Founded by Brian Richer and Kei Ng, Castor’s work walks a fine line between design and art. The company launched in 2009, and quickly gained notoriety for their humouristic take on Canadian themes and their use of recontextualized objects and materials. Though still very much rooted in this approach to humour and materiality, their work has evolved considerably over the last 7 years. Castor came to Frontier to take on a brand refresh to better reflect this evolution. Our approach became about establishing certain primary brand landmarks that still held true to their personality today, then creating new elements that could support a more healthy brand ecosystem moving forward. These new additions included new typography and photo styles, layout guidelines, copywriting, and packaging.
